Privacy Policy
Most of our apps run entirely inside your browser, so your files never reach us in the first place. This page explains exactly what that means, the little we do collect, and the control you have over it.
01 Who we are
OnlinePCApps ("OnlinePCApps", "we", "us", "our") is a platform of browser-based file tools. We build file conversion and file handling software, and today we run 110+ apps for email, PDF, image and other everyday file tasks.
This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you visit onlinepcapps.com and use any app hosted on it. It is written to be read, not just filed away. Where a term is a legal one, we say plainly what it means for you.
If you contact us at support@onlinepcapps.com, we are the party responsible (the "data controller") for the information you send.
02 Our core principle: on-device processing
The single most important thing to understand about our apps is where your files are processed. When you open a file in one of our tools, your browser reads it directly from your disk using standard web APIs (such as FileReader) and does the work locally, in the tab you already have open.
Your files are not uploaded. The content of the documents, emails, images and other files you open in our apps is not transmitted to our servers, is not stored by us and is not seen by us or any third party. When you close or refresh the tab, that working data is gone.
This is a design decision, not just a promise. Because the processing happens in your browser, there is no file for us to lose, leak or hand over. It also means the apps keep working with large files and without an upload queue.
A small number of features may need a server (for example, if we ever add optional cloud storage or an account-based feature). Wherever that is the case, the app tells you clearly before anything leaves your device, and this policy is updated to describe it.
03 What we don't collect
To be unambiguous, here is what never reaches us through normal use of the apps:
- The contents of your files. The text, images, attachments, headers or data inside anything you open in a tool.
- The files themselves. No copies, no temporary server side storage, no "processing cache" on our side.
- Account credentials. We don't ask you to create an account to use the apps, so there are no passwords to hold.
- Sensitive categories of personal data. We do not seek out health, biometric, financial account or similar special category data.
04 What we do collect
Running a website still involves a small amount of data. We keep it to what we need to operate, secure and improve the service.
| Data | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Usage & device data | Automatically, as you browse | Pages viewed, which app was used, approximate region, browser and device type, referring site. All aggregated, so we can see what's useful and fix what's broken. |
| Server logs | Automatically, on each request | IP address, timestamp and requested URL, kept briefly for security, abuse prevention and diagnostics. |
| Email address | Only if you subscribe | To send you occasional updates when we launch new apps. Every message includes an unsubscribe link. |
| Contact / support content | Only if you write to us | Your email address and whatever you include in the message, so we can reply and resolve the issue. |
| Live-chat data | Only if you open live chat | The messages you send and basic session details, handled by our chat provider to answer your question. |
We do not sell any of this data, and we do not build advertising profiles about you from the files you open.
06 Third-party services
A few trusted providers help us run the site. Each receives only the data it needs for its role, and each has its own privacy policy governing its handling of that data:
- Google Analytics and Tag Manager. Aggregated traffic and usage measurement.
- Google Ads. Measuring the performance of any advertising we run, so we can reach people who might find the tools useful.
- Hosting and content delivery. Serving the site quickly and reliably, including handling the server logs described above.
- Live chat provider. Powering the optional support chat, only when you choose to open it.
- Email delivery. Sending newsletter and support emails to addresses you have given us.
We do not authorise these providers to use your data for their own unrelated purposes. Where a provider processes data on our behalf, it does so under a data-processing agreement.
07 How we use your data
We use the limited data we hold to:
- operate, maintain and secure the website and its apps
- understand which tools are used so we can improve and prioritise them
- respond to your support requests and live chat messages
- send the updates you have subscribed to and let you unsubscribe at any time
- detect, prevent and investigate abuse, fraud or technical problems
- comply with legal obligations that apply to us
For visitors in the EEA and UK, we rely on three legal bases. Your consent (for analytics cookies and newsletter email), our legitimate interests (in running a secure, well functioning site) and, where the law requires us to keep or disclose certain records, legal obligation.
08 Data retention
Because your files are processed on your device, there is nothing of theirs for us to retain. For the small amount of data we do hold:
- Server logs are kept for a short period for security and diagnostics, then deleted or anonymised.
- Analytics data is retained in aggregate for as long as it is useful for understanding trends.
- Newsletter email is kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove it.
- Support and chat correspondence is kept as long as needed to resolve your issue and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you follow up.
09 Your privacy rights
Your rights over the personal data we hold depend on where you live. Where the law grants them, they include the right to:
- Access the data we hold about you and get a copy of it
- Correct data that is inaccurate or incomplete
- Delete your data ("right to erasure")
- Object to or restrict certain processing, including for marketing
- Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing already carried out
- Data portability, where it applies
If you are in California, the CCPA/CPRA gives you rights to know, delete and correct your personal information, and to opt out of its "sale" or "sharing". For the record, we do not sell your personal information. If you are in the EEA or UK, the GDPR applies and you may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at support@onlinepcapps.com. We will respond within the timeframe required by the applicable law and may need to verify your identity first.
10 International data transfers
We and some of our providers may process the limited data described above in countries other than your own, including outside the EEA and UK. Where we do, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, so that your data keeps a comparable level of protection wherever it is handled.
11 Children's privacy
Our apps are general-purpose file tools and are not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
12 Data security
The strongest security measure here is structural. Because files are processed on your device, the most sensitive material never travels to us and cannot be exposed in a server breach. For the site itself, we serve everything over encrypted HTTPS, apply access controls to the systems that hold the little data we keep and work with reputable providers.
No method of transmission or storage is ever completely secure, so while we take reasonable steps to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
13 Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as our apps, our providers or the law change. For significant changes, we will make the update more prominent, for example with a notice on the site. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
14 Contact us
If you have any questions about this policy or how your data is handled, we would be glad to help.
